Holiday Gift Guide: BabyLit Board Books Based on Classic Literature

Disclosure: I received these products from BabyLit in exchange for this review. No other compensation was received and all opinions are 100% my own and honest.

As a mom and former librarian, one of my goals is to foster a love of reading in my kids. I don't really care what they read, novels, comic books, whatever captures their fancy, I just want them to read! I love working with companies that create products to encourage children's literacy and I was so excited when one of my favorite children's book publishers, BabyLit, offered to send products to be included in this year's gift guide. I featured "A Christmas Carol: A BabyLit Colors Primer" several years ago in the 2012 Holiday Gift Guide and it's still one of our favorite books. BabyLit offers children's board books written by Jennifer Adams based on classic novels to help children work on everything from colors and numbers to opposites and body parts. The pictures are bright and colorful and the text is simple. My kids enjoy reading them together and I love that Grace has started "reading" them to Connor. A few months ago I found them reading their "Wonderful Wizard of Oz: A BabyLit Colors Primer" and had to snap a quick (not so great quality) picture:

These books are all extremely sturdy. Connor is very rough on books and hasn't managed to rip any in our collection. Parents will get a hit out of the classic novel references and kids will love the fun characters. Recently, BabyLit has added playsets, buttons, and other accessories to their shop.

We got the chance to add "The Jungle Book: Animals Primer Book and Playset" and "Sense & Sensibility: An Opposites Primer" to our already large BabyLit collection.

Sense & Sensibility is one of my favorite books so I'm loving this BabyLit title. Grace specifically loves the pages that include dresses and it's been a great way to expose her to opposites.

When BabyLit announced the addition of playets to their shop, I knew we had to try them. The Jungle Book play set is so much fun!
This set includes the board book and 7 punch out cards of characters. Each piece features a stand and I was amazed by how sturdy the pieces are. We have had so much fun playing with this set while reading the book.
When you are done playing, it's easy to take the pieces apart and put them in the box to store. These are such a great way to encourage literacy and creativity! We will be adding the Pride & Prejudice playset to our collection soon.

I couldn't resist getting something for myself from the BabyLit shop. Be still my librarian heart:
Yes, this is a completely necessary accessory for any Pride & Prejudice lover. I have already gotten many compliments on it during our library trips! It is extremely sturdy and makes the perfect bag for all of our library books.

BabyLit's books, playsets and accessories make great gifts for the young kids and classic novel lovers on your holiday shopping list. You can purchase all of these great products and more at BabyLit's shop and follow them on Facebook and Twitter to learn more about their exciting new products.
