If you have a baby or a toddler on your holiday shopping list this year, you need to check out the Having a Ball collection from Bright Starts! We already have the Having a Ball Get Rollin' Activity Table and both kids love it. Bright Starts recently sent us the Hide 'n Spin Monkey to review and it did not disappoint. Connor immediately begged me to take it out of the box and not so patiently waited while I set it up. Once he spotted the balls to put in the monkey's hat, he was hooked.

I let him explore without explaining anything and he quickly picked up the flow of action with this toy. First you put the balls in the monkeys hat. When all of the balls are put in, the monkey's head goes down and they all fall into the barrel and out spinning round and round until they shoot out in all directions. If you choose not to put all of the balls in at the same time, you simply push the monkey's nose and he will go to hide in the barrel and release the balls. My 2 year old boy who loves balls and anything with buttons was in heaven playing with this monkey. His attention span is short to say the least with most toys and he played with this for a FULL 20 minutes before moving on to something else. That is a huge amount of time for him and he has played with it multiple times since.

I love that this toy can grow with kids. By simply closing the leaves and showing a child how to push the monkeys nose, it is a very self contained toy. But as the child gets older, you can open the leaves to encourage them to chase the balls. Grace, who is almost 4, also enjoys playing with it and both kids love chasing the balls around the room together. Any toy that can keep both of my kids entertained and playing happily together is a win in my book!

My only complaint? Connor keeps putting random small toys in the holes and dragging me over to fish them out. He thinks it's hilarious, but I'm not so amused. So far all have easily been removed so I can't complain too much (supposedly I stuck small objects in our VCR at his age so it could be worse!!)

You can purchase the Bright Starts Having a Ball Hide 'n Spin Monkey for $39.88 now! Check out Bright Starts' Website, Facebook, and Twitter pages for more information about their great products.
