I have been trying to work out in the mornings lately while the kids eat breakfast. I would love to be one of those people that hops out of bed in the morning to work out before the kids wake up, but let's be honest, I hate working out and I love sleep. If I try to do it when they aren't confined to the dining room table, one of these scenarios occurs:
1. Connor screams at the top of his lungs and throws his arms around my legs refusing to let go. I attempt to pry him off while missing the majority of the DVD. Workout fail #1.
2. If he's in a good mood, I might be able to get the standing part of the video done. But as soon as I try to do anything on the floor (yoga, pilates, etc) two children suddenly attack me. Doing sit ups or push ups with an added 60 pounds of wiggly kids makes getting a good work out pretty impossible. Workout fail #2.
3. If I try to do it while Connor is napping, Grace thinks she should get to help. This means she steals any equipment I'm trying to use while yelling "my turn!!" So I spend half of the time trying to get my equipment back. Workout fail #3.
Of course while I'm in my tank top and sweats, Grace "works out" in her finery:
I'm obviously underdressed!
4. If I don't do it during breakfast, I spend the rest of my day thinking "oh I'll do it tonight." And I never do. My motivation slowly fades throughout the day and by the time the kids are in bed, I just want to rest. Workout fail #4.
So breakfast time it is! I've been contemplating joining a gym but I'm not sure how much I would actually go. Do any of you with young kids have a gym membership? Is it worth it for you? If you don't, when do you work out?
