Day Out With Thomas Review

"Mama, more choo-choo? More train?"

A Day Out With Thomas

That is all I've heard since Saturday morning when we went to the Day Out With Thomas at the Midland Railway in Baldwin City, KS. To say that Grace enjoyed it is a total understatement. She was in heaven!

We arrived about 45 minutes early, expecting to have to park far away. Much to our surprise, we got a space fairly close and we were able to to have some time to explore all of the fun activities before it was time to board our train. Grace got to sit in a fire truck and see Sir Topham Hatt (she didn't want to take a picture with him though.)

About 15 minutes before our 11:15 boarding time, we got in line to board and we got our first glimpse of Thomas the Train. Grace got very intense and then smiled and pointed. She wanted to make sure we all saw Thomas.

We got to take a 25 minute trip on the train and we all loved it. Grace watched out of the window the entire time while sitting (sometimes standing) on Papa's lap. Connor was happily passed between the grandmas.

Grace didn't say a word during the trip so I wasn't sure what she was thinking, but as soon as we got off of the train, her first words were "more train? please?"

We then got to take our pictures with Thomas. Grace had no interest in standing still for a picture and just wanted to look at Thomas the entire time.

I have to say how impressed I was by the organization of the train rides and pictures. There was ample covered parking for strollers and a nice covered tent to wait in line for boarding. After you rode on the train, you got to go take your pictures allowing the next group to load. This allowed them to keep on schedule and it didn't feel rushed at all.  It was so organized and everyone was happy.

After pictures, we decided to explore the grounds a bit more and found an area with all sorts of fun animals that the kids could feed. Grace LOVES any and all animals so this was a huge hit for her. She got to feed some of the animals and she had a great time.

We then decided to eat and were pleased to see that all of the food vendors were local businesses and organizations and the prices were very reasonable. Most kids events are held in arenas where a bottle of water will cost $5, but we got some delicious BBQ for a great price!

We all had so much fun at A Day Out With Thomas. I'm pretty sure Grace will be talking about it for weeks to come now!
