Heat wave

I normally can appreciate the weather in the midwest. I love that we get to truly experience all 4 seasons and while some summers and winters can be miserable, there is always the knowledge that in a few months, the weather will be totally different. However, this summer is beyond awful.. Missouri, and most of the midwest, is in the worst drought it has seen since the dust bowl, for those of you who don't know you're history, that's the 1930s. We've seen more 100+ degree temperature days than I can even count. And to top it all of, I'm pregnant and would be burning up in even reasonable temperatures. It's scary when your forecast regularaly looks like this:

That's not even the worst I've seen! I don't remember the last time it rained.

Poor Grace is going crazy being stuck inside all the time. I don't blame her! Getting out is just difficult being 6 months pregnant with a toddler who hates getting into her carseat, so I try to do as many of our errands first thing in the morning before it gets horrible out. Even at 9 am, it's normally in the 90s. Why oh why did I choose to get pregnant during the worst heat wave in half a century???

To make it worse, a few weeks ago I scored an amazing deal on a playhouse for Grace that we are keeping outside on the deck that she absolutely loves! She would be perfectly content playing in it all day long if I let her.

I try to let her play in it once or twice a day, but can only generally stand to be out for 10 minutes or so before we both get too warm. It's a struggle to get her to come inside! She stands at the back door whining wanting to go out and play and I feel so bad for her.

Is it hot where you are? Please tell me we're not the only ones suffering in these insane temperatures! I'm ready for fall!

  1. I live in Texas, so it's pretty much 100 degrees every day during the summer. I'm 23 weeks pregnant and I have basically become a HERMIT. It's just too hot and I get SO uncomfortable out in the heat.

We've got 2 months left of this lame heat, but I hope it cools down where you are soon!

  2. I understand completely!!! It has been hot here in Ohio this summer. I am 61/2 mos pregnant and I really am miserable. I am becoming a hermit too. It is all that I can do to go to work. Other than that, I don't want to go out at all. I really don't want to deal with people. I have been so agitated with this pregnancy that hearing people talk annoys me. I am usually very outgoing and social but I am becoming the complete opposite. I hate feeling like this.
