Why I love Breastfeeding

In honor of world breastfeeding week, I wanted to write a post about my experiences over the last 6 months. Breastfeeding is one of the best things I've ever done and there are many reasons I love doing it. Here are a few:

1. Even with a c-section and 2 days in the NICU, I was able to breastfeed Grace and I quickly bonded with her. If she had been formula fed, I'm sure I would have let the nurses do many of the nighttime feedings in the NICU, but instead, I was up every 2-3 hours holding and feeding her.

2. I've managed to lose all my pregnancy weight (40 pounds) plus an additional 15 pounds due to breastfeeding. I know this doesn't happen to everyone, but I've been one of the lucky ones!

3. I know that it's the best thing for Grace and for myself. She is growing like a weed and it's amazing to know that I've been the provider of her nutrition.

4. Breastfeeding, once you get the hang of it, is the easiest way to feed a baby! Seriously, making bottles takes time and solids are messy! There's nothing easier then putting Grace to my breast to give her a quick snack when we're out and about : )

I know that we were lucky to have an easy time with breastfeeding. I was sore, but Grace took to it very quickly and latched well from the start. My goal was to breastfeed until 6 months, and now that we've passed the 6 month mark, my goal is to make it to a year. I am proud to be a breastfeeding mommy!

  1. I completely agree about breastfeeding being easier. Some days I wish that I could still just nurse her rather than prepare food, put her in the high chair, and clean up the mess afterward. Congrats on reaching your goal and I hope you reach your next goal too!!

  2. i love these types of posts!! i was lucky that it was easy too; but not very lucky with the weighloss part. i'm thinking maybe i cant get back to my normal weight because my boobs weigh too much? ;)

visiting from toddle along tuesdays! congrats on being feature!
